AVI Video to DVD Format
Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a Microsoft-created format that simplifies video coding for convenient home display and storage. However, consumers must still format the file code for their DVD players.

Conversion
-
In 2010, software is the best hub for multiple video formats. Video conversion software programs (such as Roxio, AVS and ImTOO) are widely available. Conversion capability empowers you to switch formats easily if needed. For example, Europe uses PAL format, and North America uses NTSC format.
Considerations
-
Each video file is like its own video cassette from yesteryear. Select video converters that are compatible with the largest number of file extensions (the suffix after the "dot" in file names) such as .mov, .avi and .mpeg. Software will convert those extensions into DVD codes such as NTSC or PAL.
-
Limitations
-
LP, cassette, VHS, DVD: they're all storage units for media information. A DVD is a container with limited storage capacity. As with VHS and Beta tapes, DVDs can only hold so much video digital information. A 4.7 gigabyte (GB) DVD will hold two hours of standard quality video.
