Pure & Natural brand bar soaps is sold at retailers in the personal care or beauty aisles. It's a 98 percent natural soap, according to its label, and comes encased in compostable packaging into which flower seeds are embedded to promote biodegradability.

  1. Original Manufacturer

    • In the 1980s, the Dial Co. first produced Pure & Natural brand soap bars. P&N bar soaps were made in its manufacturing plant in Aurora, Illinois, using tallow.

    Second Manufacturer

    • In 2004, Dial became a subsidiary of Henkel AG & Co. based in Duesseldorf, Germany. Henkel continued to make Pure & Natural Brand bar soaps in the Illinois plant. In 2008, Henkel-Dial began making all P&N soaps vegetable-based.

    Current Manufacturer

    • In 2009, VVF Amenities (based in Mumbai, India with U.S. office in Houston, Texas) purchased the soap manufacturing plant in Illinois from the Henkel parent company.

      As of August 2010, VVF contracts to make Pure & Natural brand bar soaps and other Henkel-Dial brand products in its Illinois plant.

      VVF says a small component of its specialty vegetable-based soaps are manufactured in factories in China.
