Spring Vs. Pump Pellet Gun
Spring and pump pellet guns are two of the most common choices. Each style offers its own advantages and disadvantages that shooters should consider before purchasing a pellet gun for personal use or as a gift.
-
Cost
-
Pump pellet guns are generally the least expensive style of pellet gun, making them ideal when cost is the primary consideration. Though pumps are more inexpensive than spring-powered pellet guns, inexpensive models are made in each variety.
Ease of Use
-
Pump pellet guns require less force to operate than spring pellet guns. Spring pellet guns can be difficult for youngsters to operate, and repeated firing can even be a workout for an adult. Aside from the force needed to operate the gun, both types of pellet guns work essentially the same.
-
Performance
-
Spring-powered pellet guns are generally more powerful than pump pellet guns. Pump pellet guns also require multiple pumps to create higher velocity versus only one pump of a spring-operated pellet gun. Spring-powered pellet guns are often made to a higher level of quality that can provide better accuracy than pump pellet guns.
