Trophy Deer Hunting in Kentucky
Though overshadowed by many of its neighboring states, Kentucky is a productive area for trophy deer hunters. Kentucky's western counties are generally the largest producers of trophy-class deer.

Kentucky provides abundant public land for hunting. Kentucky provides numerous public hunting areas for deer hunters. Kentucky's Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources divides the state into five areas; the Green River and Purchase regions are the most productive for trophy bucks.
Private Land Hunting

While much land is posted, there are still methods to access private land for hunting. Though not easy, gaining access to private land for hunting is possible. Hunters can lease or buy land for hunting, join a hunting club with land under lease or hire a guide and outfitter with land under lease. Numerous guides and outfitters cater to hunters' needs.

Licensing

Hunting licenses for Kentucky can be purchased online. The state provides a user-friendly online system for both resident and nonresident hunters to purchase hunting licenses and deer permits. Some Wildlife Management Areas require the purchase of an additional permit. Licenses and permits also may be purchased at numerous vendors across the state.
