PPO stands for preferred provider prganization. A PPO is a group of providers, called a network, that have contracted with an insurance carrier and agree to provide their services for a negotiated contracted amount. There are numerous insurance carriers who offer a PPO policy.

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

BCBS is the oldest health insurance company in the United States, having been in existence for over 80 years. There are 39 independent regional BCBS companies that make up the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.

CIGNA
