Acer is a computer company that was founded in Taiwan in 1976. Acer has since grown into a multinational firm that boasted revenues of $17.9 billion in 2009. Acer offers several different lines of laptop computers with varying features and performance levels.

  1. Notebooks

    • There are three lines of Acer notebooks: Aspire, TravelMate and Extensa. The Aspire line is made for the average laptop user and is ideal for basic word processing and web surfing. The TravelMate and Extensa lines are designed for business professionals on the go and generally have more graphics capabilities and higher performance levels than the Aspire.

    Netbooks

    • Acer's netbooks are smaller, more lightweight and generally less powerful than their notebook counterparts. There are two lines of Acer netbooks: Aspire and Ferrari. The Aspire line is ultra-portable, has a long battery life, and is capable of performing basic office tasks. The Acer Ferrari, as the name implies, is built for speed and performance. The Ferrari is slightly more powerful than the Aspire.
