Text Wrap lets you to create more professional documents.

When preparing a document in Microsoft Word, you may find yourself struggling to make your text and images appear the way you want. Text wrapping is one tool available in Word that allows you to create a professional-looking document.

  1. Definition

    • The term text wrapping refers to a text-formatting option which allows you to place an image in the midst of a block of text. When text wrap is enabled, the text will appear around the image surrounded by a narrow margin, rather than directly over or under the text.

    Using Text Wrap

    • To enable text wrap, insert your image or drawing. This should automatically create a break in the text where the picture is located. Go to the "Page Layout" tab, and find "Text Wrapping." The drop-down menu will offer several different text-wrapping styles. Select the style you want, then place the photo where you please in the text. Text should now shift around the picture automatically, instead of creating a full-line break.

    Fine Tuning

    • To further adjust the appearance of the wrapped text, select "More Layout Options" at the bottom of the text-wrapping menu. This brings up a dialogue box which allows you to alter the style of wrap as well as the margin widths, picture position and other details.
