Obtaining a visa to the UK requires a number of documents and money for fees.

To obtain a visa in the United Kingdom, you must have the money for fees, the correct visa application, the necessary supporting documents and a photograph. You should also check to see if you may need medical clearance or testing.

  1. Fees

    • Depending on the type of visitor you are and the length of your visit, you will be required to pay a fee that could range from 68 to 610 euros.

    Application

    • The reason for your visit will determine the type of visa application you must complete. The types of applications include: general visitor, family visitor, business visitor, student visitor, academic visitor, marriage visitor, medical treatment visitor, visitor in transit, sports visitor and entertainer visitor.

    Supporting documents

    • You must provide information about your passport and a marriage certificate if you are not single.

    Photograph

    • You must provide two identical black and white photos. The photographs should be 45 millimeters by 35 millimeters and taken against a white or cream background. You should not be smiling in your photo and should have no obstruction such as sunglasses or hair across your face.

    Medical clearance

    • If you are requesting a visa and you are coming from any of the following countries you must be tested for tuberculosis. The countries include: Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya,Eritrea, Somalia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Pakistan, Sudan and Thailand.
