What Is a Spry Menu?

What Is a Spry Menu? thumbnail
Spry enables web developers to create complex menus, without the need to write programming code.

Adobe first introduced Spry in Dreamweaver CS3. Spry provides a means for novice web page developers to produce highly technical menus for web pages without the need to write complex codes needed for web servers to understand page functionality.

  1. Adobe Dreamweaver

    • Dreamweaver, a software created by Adobe Systems Incorporated, allows users to create web pages for the Internet. The program provides functionality designed for users who do not know how to write complex programming codes.

    Spry Framework

    • The Spry Framework works within the Dreamweaver program. Users can access Spry from the main Dreamweaver menu, in order to create navigation menus for web pages.

    Languages

    • Spry can work within a variety of web programming languages, including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Internet functionality relies heavily on JavaScript language technology to produce functions such as rollover effects, form functionality and complex, dynamic menus.

    Using Spry

    • Users can select from a variety of features within the Spry JavaScript library, in order to create functionality that would ordinarily require writing the code from scratch. Spry automatically inserts the code into the web page where it can be read by software on the web servers that deliver Internet content.

    Dynamic Menus

    • Users can create complex menus using the Spry Framework. Menus can contain sub and sub sub menus, which drop down when the cursor clicks on or moves over the main menu topic.
