The North American bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana)

The bullfrog is an aquatic species, and is comparatively bigger then most other frog species. There are several different types of bullfrogs in several different continents, but they all share commonly large sizes.

  1. North American Bullfrog

    • Bullfrogs, or Rana catesbeiana, are the largest of all frogs in North America. A bullfrogs body length, not counting the legs, can be as long as 8 inches.

    African Bullfrog

    • African bullfrogs, on average, are larger then North American frogs, and are one of the largest frog species in the world. The body length of an African frog can reach as long as 9 inches.

    Bullfrogs Legs

    • All bullfrogs have incredibly long hind legs, almost double the size of the body, and can jump distances of 6 to 10 feet.

    Bullfrogs Eating Habits

    • As predators, the bullfrog eats anything it can fit into its mouth. Due to their enormous size, they have a wide range of prey such as snakes, birds, small rodents, and even smaller frogs and bullfrogs.

    Bullfrog Tadpoles

    • Bullfrog tadpoles are comparatively larger then tadpoles of other frog species, much like in adult form, and can be 5 to 6 inches long.
