For 2008, pharmacists reported annual salaries that averaged $112,135 nationwide. This figure represented an approximately 4.41-percent increase over the average from the preceding year.
Average Hourly

Pharmacists reported earnings that averaged $54 an hour nationwide. Regardless of whether pharmacists reported earnings in annual or hourly form, pharmacists reported an average work week of 43 hours.

Compared to less experienced pharmacists, 5 percent of the surveyed pharmacists with over five years of experience reported "much higher" salaries, and 33 percent reported higher salaries.
Practice Location

Community environment also affected salary levels for pharmacists. On an annualized basis, pharmacists employed in suburban settings averaged earnings about $1,500 higher than those practicing in rural settings.
Region

Pharmacists in the Southwest reported the highest annualized salaries at $115,500, while pharmacists in the Midwest reported the lowest annualized salaries at $104,000.
