Can White be Worn After Labor Day?

In recent years fashionistas have turned away from the "No White After Labor Day" Rule. Although many people still feel uncomfortable wearing white in the winter, fashion experts claim it is perfectly fine to don white as the snowflakes fall.

Wear White

According to Today.msnbc.com, it is now OK to wear white all year round, not just between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Fabrics

Certain fabrics, however, continue to be seasonal, such as white linen and other lightweight materials for warm weather.

Other Whites

For those who are still wary about wearing bright whites in the winter, off white, winter white, or cream-colored garments are acceptable.

White Denim

Glamour magazine's fashion editor Suze Yalof Schwartz told The Today Show in September 2009 that white denim is in style all year long.

Outerwear

Winter coats, vests, and jackets in white are also fine to wear, but it is important to keep them clean in messy winter weather.

Weddings

It is still a no-no to wear white to a wedding, no matter what the season, unless you are the bride.
