Fashion Tips for Business Women

Although the modern business world has relaxed its attitude toward attire in recent years, there are still conventional rules that will help women achieve their goals while looking their best. Business women should dress conservatively when dressing for work or business events. They should stay away from excessive and loud jewelry, overly bright clothing, tennis shoes, jeans, tank tops, and excessively short skirts.

  1. Two-Piece Suits

    • One good option for businesswomen is the two-piece skirt suit with a colored shirt. The suit should be in colors such as black, navy, tan or white. You can wear a white, blue, gold, or gray shirt underneath the suit. A good pair of black or navy pumps and small but stylish earrings complement the outfit.

    Dresses

    • You can also wear dresses to work or business events. The dress should not show excessive cleavage or skin on the back or stomach nor should it be too loose where it doesn't accentuate your figure. At the same time, don't wear dresses too tight where you're not comfortable. Also, make sure that your underwear never shows.

    Dress Shirt and Pants

    • You can also wear nice button-down shirts with dress pants. The shirt colors should be either white, gray, tan, black, blue or yellow, and you can wear khaki, pinstripe or black pants. You should wear loafers or medium-sized pumps with the outfit.

    Hair and Makeup

    • You want your hair to be appropriate for a business environment yet not too plain-looking. For example, adding red highlights to your hair can look fabulous, but mahogany or auburn tones will serve you better than streaks of bright red. Your makeup shouldn't be excessive and should match your skin tone.

    Where To Buy The Clothes

    • You can purchase inexpensive but smart-looking business clothes from department stores such as JC Penney, Target, Sears, and The Gap. These stores also have websites and, sometimes, you can find special discounts there.
