Dry skin is a problem that almost everyone faces at one time or another. It can bring an uncomfortable, scaly itch that is unsightly as well. Dry skin responds well to many natural treatments, including bananas. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Diet

    • A balanced diet is recommended for people with dry skin. Nuts, whole-grain breads, vegetables and fruits--especially bananas--are recommended by 1stholistic.com.

    Scaly skin

    • A mashed banana applied directly to a scaly area for about 10 minutes will soften the scales so they may be sloughed away.

    Wrinkles

    • A banana mashed until creamy may be applied to the face to reduce wrinkles. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse with warm water. Follow with a splash of cold water to close the pores.

    Bananas and honey

    • Warm a couple of tablespoons of honey, then add two mashed bananas. Simmer until texture is smooth and place on face, hands, or elbows to smooth rough spots and brighten dull skin.

    Ripeness

    • Bananas that are slightly overripe are best for use in masks or dry skin treatment because they have excess oil. It is also a great way to keep from wasting your bananas.

    • Take care not to get bananas in your hair while applying a face mask as it will make your hair very sticky.
