Coco Castile Soap Vs. Olive Castile Soap
A castile soap is made using 100 percent vegetable oil. Traditional castile soap is made with olive oil and coco castile is made using coconut oil. Though the soap-making process is identical, these two oils produce very different soaps, so one might suit you better. Does this Spark an idea?

.Handmade soap contains natural oils. Castile soap is made by combining an acid (the coconut oil or olive oil) with an alkaline (a solution of sodium hydroxide and water). When these two liquids are combined, a chemical reaction called saponification occurs and the resulting product is a hard bar of soap. You can use many different types of oil to make soap, and each oil offers benefits and drawbacks.
Olive Oil Castile Soap

Olive oil is inexpensive and readily available at the grocery store Soaps created with olive oil are extremely gentle on the skin. Handmade baby soaps are often 100 percent olive castile soaps. Olive oil castile soaps produce very little lather and finished bars are soft. Pressing a finger into the surface of a handmade olive oil bar will leave a dent. Olive oil soap dissolves readily in water and rinses away without leaving a residue.

Coco Castile Soap

Coconut oil is made from real coconuts. Coco castile soaps are hard, durable and long-lasting, making them a good economical choice. They work well for oily skin and produce a lot of lather. Soaps made from coconut oil won't melt when you use them and can be used in the bath or shower. Coconut soaps are not ideal for mature skin types, as they can be somewhat drying.

If you need a very gentle soap and don't care about how quickly it gets used up, choose an olive oil castile. If you need a soap for oily skin, love bubbles, or need an economical choice, pick a coconut castile.

Both types of castile soap are animal friendly--most vegan soaps are made from either coconut or olive oil, or a combination. If you make your own soap, you can tailor it to meet your needs and use a combination of coconut oil and olive oil. You'll get the benefits of both types of soap in a single bar.
