What Is the ESX File Extension?

Unless you work in the insurance industry, you probably are unfamiliar with the ESX file extension. Unlike the JPG, DOC and PDF extensions, which are in common use by many programs, ESX files are generated by a single software source. Given its specialized and proprietary nature, you may never have encountered an ESX file.

Xactimate Insurance Software

  • Xactware is the maker of Xactimate, which is software used in the insurance industry for managing claims, creating estimates, attaching images to support claims and recording data on policy holders. The ESX file extension can only be opened by the Xactimate software, which is a commercial program. While the format is not typically used by the general public, if you need to open an ESX file, you can download a free 30-day trial version of Xactimate from the company's website.
