Safety Hazard Examples

Safety hazards exist in every part of daily life, including homes and businesses. Recognizing potential hazards and developing plans to eliminate personal injury is the key to a safe home and business.

  1. Hazards

    • There are hundreds of potential hazards in workplaces including electrical, chemical, air quality, tripping, cranes, forklifts, welding and falls. All hazards must be identified and addressed to minimize injury.

    Risks

    • The risks of not identifying hazards and developing remediation plans include serious personal injury and death. The slightest hazard can create the potential for severe injury to employees and bystanders.

    Regulations

    • All applicable federal, state and local safety mitigation regulations must be followed to ensure a safe workplace. Employees have the right to a workplace free from recognized hazards that could cause harm.

    Safety Analysis

    • A thorough inspection of the business should be conducted by qualified personnel on a regular basis. The inspection should list all recognized potential safety hazards and plans for elimination of the hazards.

    Minimization

    • Proper employee personal protective equipment, including safety eyewear, gloves, footwear, hardhats and hearing protection are the most common ways to minimize the potential for injury.
