People with this condition experience a burning feeling in their feet. It can be annoying or a symptom of a condition in the body that may need extensive treatment.

    About

  1. Burning foot is a sensation in the foot that makes it feel as though it is on fire. It is a condition that sometimes requires medical attention.
  2. Significance

  3. The sensation of a burning foot indicates something is occurring in the foot. Possible conditions can range in severity from athlete's foot to diabetes to alcoholism.
  4. Types

  5. The feeling of burning foot can be mildly annoying to so intense that it can interfere with sleeping. In cases such as athlete's foot, the pain is in the location of the medical condition, but in cases such as alcoholism, the pain is occurring in a location different from where the body is fighting disease.
  6. Treatment

  7. If the burning foot sensation is simply annoying, bathing in cold water and resting with feet propped up can provide relief. A physician's assistance should be sought if the burning feeling occurs suddenly and with severity.
  8. Warning

  9. If the feeling of burning foot is mild but the pain increases, a physician needs to evaluate the foot immediately. Additionally, if the foot with the burning sensation shows any signs of redness, swelling or rash, a doctor should be consulted.
