What Is an X10 Device?

Control

An X10 device is typically coded with an address to distinguish itself from others. One house can have up to 256 different devices.

Advantages

Unlike other smart home technology, X10 requires no rewiring and is simple to install. You simply plug the device in and use it immediately.

Disadvantage

Because X10 uses the same household wiring as all household electronics, the signal can be interrupted when you run appliances that require a lot of power, such as washers and dryer, or microwave ovens. A plug-in line filter can solve this problem.
