Levitra is the brand name for vardenafil HCI and is a PDE5 inhibitor. It is an FDA-approved medication, prescribed to treat men experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). Erectile dysfunction is defined as the repeated inability to obtain or sustain an erection needed for sexual intercourse.

How It Works

Levitra increases the volume of blood flow to the penis. This action assists the normal process of arousal in which chambers in the penis are filled with blood.
Dosage & Effect

Dosages are available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg and are determined by the prescribing physician. Effects are typically felt within 25 to 60 minutes and no later than 5 hours.

Side Effects

Most men experience a facial flush, stuffy nose and mild headaches. Unusual and uncommonly reported side effects include changes in color vision and an erection that will not subside.
When Not To Take

Patients taking nitrate medications, which are typically prescribed for angina, should not take Levitra. Also, men over age 75 taking itraconazole, ritonavir, indavir or ketoconazole should not take Levitra.
How to Store

You should store Levitra at room temperatures; between 59° Fahrenheit and 86° Fahrenheit. You will also want to make sure it is kept where children cannot get into it.
