Slip-Joint Pliers

Some types of pliers come with slip joints, which allow the pliers to adjust to accommodate the size of the object for which they are being used, such as in tightening a bolt.
Long-Nose Pliers

Long-nose pliers are handy for those areas where fingers simply cannot reach. Such pliers can also be used for bending and attaching wires.

Cutting Pliers

There are three types of cutting pliers: end, diagonal and side. Side cutters are used when working with wires and their insulation; diagonal cutters cut wires and remove small nails; and end cutters are used to make clean, sharp cuts.
Snips

Snips can have straight or curved blades that can be used to cut materials such as copper, sheet metal and plastic cloths.
Wire Strippers

Wire strippers are made with a form that allows wiring insulation to be cut without damaging wires.
