The Life Cycle & Growing Stages of a Human Being
Humans go through many growth stages throughout their life cycle, both in their bodies and their minds.
-
Pre-Birth and Birth
-
After conception, an embryo is formed that continues to grow into a fetus. The fetus develops and grows in the mother's womb till birth. Birth happens about nine months after conception.
Infancy and Childhood
-
Infancy is the period right after a baby is born and before it is considered a toddler. Early childhood is the next stage, which occurs during the ages of 3 to 6. Middle childhood is from ages 7 to 9.
-
Late Childhood and Adolescence
-
Late childhood is from ages 10 to 12, which is also known as the "tween" age. Adolescence hits around age 13 and continues until about age 19. Adolescence is when puberty occurs in both girls and boys.
Adulthood
-
Early adulthood begins at age 20 and continues to 35. This is when the body is still maturing but for the most part has stopped growing. Midlife is from 36 to 50 and mature adulthood is from 50 to 75. These stages are when humans are the most independent.
Late Adulthood and Death
-
Late adulthood starts at age 75 and continues from there. This is the stage in life when people become elderly and bodies are ware down. The cycle ends with death.
