How Many Glasses of Water Should You Drink a Day?
Dizziness, hunger and fatigue are just some of the problems that can arise when you aren't getting enough water. Although daily water needs will increase if it is particularly hot outside or you have been sweating a lot due to exercise or some other factor, everyone should try to aim for their optimum water intake.

Amount
-
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to how many glasses of water per day you should drink. Instead, follow this simple equation: Divide your weight (in pounds) by half. That is how many ounces of water you should drink in a typical day. If you weigh 160 pounds, for example, you should drink 80 ounces of water (about 10 glasses) in a day.
Temperature
-
You may drink your daily water amount at any temperature that makes you feel comfortable. Some people are refreshed by cold water only, while others (who may have sensitive teeth, for example) prefer their water at room temperature.

Health benefits
-
Because your body is made up of mostly water, replenishing the fluid in your cells is very important. When you are well-hydrated, your body can effectively flush toxins out and carry nutrients along. Hydration also contributes to an alert mind and a smooth digestive system, as well as clear, plump skin.
Tricks
-
Some people find it difficult to drink the recommended amount of water each day. This may be because they dislike the taste of water, or they just forget to get up periodically and fill their glass. If the taste of pure water is off-putting to you, keep a supply of lemon, lime or orange slices on hand to add to your drink. Not only will this enhance the taste, it will also make it look more desirable. If your busy day keep you from stopping for a water break, get into the habit of keeping a refillable 1-liter bottle at your desk or in your car.
Other sources of water
-
Water-rich food and drink such as watermelon, tomato, lettuce, milk and juice can help you reach your daily recommended water intake. Beware of excess caffeine, however, which flushes water out of your body and may thwart your efforts to stay hydrated.
