What are Amoxicillin Allergy Symptoms?
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that contains penicillin. It is used to treat bacterial infections. Some individual have serious allergic reactions to any medications containing penicillin. Some reactions may be mild and only need treatment with other medications while other reactions may be life-threatening.

Some individuals may break out in hives shortly after ingesting amoxicillin or other drugs with penicillin.
Rash

Other individuals may develop a rash in response to taking amoxicillin.

Skin Itching

Amoxicillin may cause persistent skin itching.
Facial Swelling

Some individuals who have more serious reactions to amoxicillin may experience swelling of the face, tongue and lips. This swelling can be dangerous if it obstructs the airway to the extent the affected individual cannot breathe.
Trouble Breathing

An allergic reaction to amoxicillin may also cause wheezing or trouble breathing.
Anaphylactic Penicillin Reaction

Some individuals are highly sensitive to penicillin and may have immediate life-threatening reactions. An anaphylactic reaction may include: serious breathing difficulty, decreased blood pressure, fainting, hives, vomiting and diarrhea. When someone has an anaphylactic reaction, emergency care is needed immediately.
