Short, naturally curly hairstyles offer perhaps the most variety of any other types of cuts. Naturally curly hair looks great from the shortest pixie cut to the longer chin-length bob.
Mark Garrison, celebrity hair stylist in New York City, recommends short haircuts especially for those with fine, limp hair. He believes that the shorter the curly hair is cut, the fuller and thicker it will appear.
Curls Look Younger
Garrison also says that most women look good in curly hair because the curls soften features and add a more youthful, less severe and aging look.
For those with a square-shaped face, Garrison recommends layers instead of blunt cuts to soften the shape.
A round or heart-shaped face looks good with a blunt cut or layered bob, shoulder length or shorter, which will give lots of freedom in styling choice.
Fine, Curly Hair
Fine, curly short hairstyles work best with volumizing shampoo and a small amount of conditioner. Too much product will weigh hair down.
When drying short, naturally curly hairstyles, Garrison says to use a wide-tooth comb and gently detangle the hair, then shape with fingers and let air dry as much as 95%. It is important to use a blowdryer with a diffuser, and not to fluff or scrunch hair, as this produces frizz.
