Intestinal Virus Symptoms

Intestinal viruses can occur when least expected. They can be make a person feel terribly ill and are usually very contagious. There are common symptoms to be expected when an intestinal virus strikes.

  1. Vomiting

    • One of the most common symptoms of an intestinal virus is vomiting that may last one to three days or possibly longer.

    Diarrhea

    • Diarrhea is frequently experienced due to bacteria in the intestinal tract and could last an additional two to three days after other symptoms have disappeared.

    Fever

    • Body temperatures above 100 degrees F may occur and could also last one to two days, depending upon the severity of the virus.

    Body Aches

    • Intestinal virus sufferers may have mild to moderate body aches the first day of the illness and possibly throughout the duration.

    Dehydration

    • Due to excessive vomiting and diarrhea, there is a risk that the body may begin to dehydrate during an intestinal virus.

    Treatment

    • The best way to treat an intestinal virus is by getting plenty of rest, drinking extra fluids to prevent dehydration and eating lightly to help decrease vomiting and diarrhea.
