Contrary to what the name indicates, oral herpes (or cold sores) can occur not only on the mouth but on other areas of the face as well. The nose, both inside and out, can be a site for oral herpes. There are several symptoms of herpes on the nose.

    Similarities to Oral Outbreaks

  1. The symptoms of herpes outbreaks in or on the nose are similar to symptoms of herpes outbreaks on the lips.
  2. Tingling or Numbness

  3. A tingling or numb spot in or on the nose can be the first sign of a herpes outbreak. If antiviral medications are taken at this stage, they can significantly reduce the severity of the outbreak.
  4. Blisters

  5. Painful blisters in or on the nose are typical with herpes outbreaks.
  6. Oozing

  7. Blisters will ooze and crust over a few days after the herpes outbreak begins on the nose.
  8. Causes

  9. Herpes blisters can be brought on by exposure to the sun, a high fever or in response to hormonal fluctuations.
