Different Types of Laser Hair Removal

For more than 10 years, laser hair removal has been leading the way in innovative hair removal alternatives. Those men and women who are fed up with removing pesky unwanted hair on a daily basis now have a better option. As treatment technologies have progressed, different types of laser hair removal have entered the market. Finding the option that is best for you will help you to see smooth, hair-free results.

    Types

  1. There are five different types of laser hair removal. These include Alexandrite laser hair removal, Nd: YAG laser hair removal, diode laser hair removal, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser hair removal and home laser hair removal.
  2. Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal

  3. Alexandrite lasers utilize a continuous laser light wavelength that penetrates the skin at a depth of 755nm. This type of laser hair removal is best suited for those individuals with lighter skin tones and darker hair color.
  4. Diode Laser Hair Removal

  5. Diode lasers have a longer laser wavelength than Alexandrite lasers and are best suited for those individuals with light to medium skin tones. With a penetration depth of 810nm, diode lasers have the capabilities of treating tanned skin.
  6. Nd: YAG Laser Hair Removal

  7. Nd: YAG lasers utilize a longer wavelength of continuous light than either the Alexandrite or Diode, penetrating the skin at 1064nm. This longer wavelength makes laser treatments safe for those individuals with darker skin tones.
  8. IPL Laser Hair Removal

  9. IPL lasers utilize pulsed light technology, which delivers multiple wavelengths of light to several different depths. Individuals will see hair reduction results with this laser, but may require more treatments than those who undergo continuous light treatments.
  10. Home Laser Hair Removal

  11. Home laser hair removal devices utilize diode laser technology. However the laser pulses are not as strong. Results may take longer to achieve than with 'in office' treatments, but users will see a drastic reduction in unwanted hair over time.
