Who is the Maker of Vizio Televisions?

Vizio televisions are made by Vizio, Inc. of Irvine, California. Formerly known as V Inc., Vizio is one of the top-selling brands of flat panel HDTVs (High Definition Televisions) in the U.S. since its inception in 2005.

History

As HD technology improved and caught on with consumers, HDTV prices dropped and more manufacturers produced them. V Inc. began making Vizio HDTVs in 2005 as an inexpensive alternative to other brands, before changing the company's name to Vizio soon after.

LCD and Plasma

Vizio makes both LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and Plasma screen HDTVs, the two most popular types of HDTV. Each uses different technologies to create the high picture quality.

Flat Panels

Vizio makes flat panel HDTVs as small as 20 inches and as large as 55 inches. With the slim design they take up less space and weigh less than older HDTVs, and can either stand upright or be wall-mounted.

Growing

After only a few years in the marketplace, Vizio was already the top-selling brand of LCD HDTVs in 2007, and was ranked one of the fastest growing companies in Orange County, California in 2008.

Vizio's low prices have made the TVs popular with consumers; they can be found in most major electronics retailers including Wal-Mart, Costco, Sam's Club, Target and Sears.
