Cause of Dry Skin & Rashes on the Forehead
Dry, itchy skin on your forehead is uncomfortable and can be embarrassing, especially if you break out in a rash. There are several causes for rashes and dry skin on the forehead and your doctor can help you determine what is causing this condition.
-
Allergies
-
Allergies to soap, lotion, hair products or makeup can cause dry skin or a rash on the forehead. Food allergies or environmental allergies can sometimes cause a rash on the forehead or other parts of the body.
Shingles
-
Shingles, a disease related to chicken pox and affecting older adults, can often result in a rash on the forehead as well as other parts of the body.
-
Infection
-
A skin infection, such as impetigo or herpes, can cause a rash all over the body, including the forehead.
Rosacea
-
Rosacea can cause an acne-like rash on the forehead. It most often affects people between the ages of 30 and 60.
Excessive Rubbing
-
Rubbing your forehead when you are worried or deep in thought can dry out the skin. Wearing a tight hat or scarf around your forehead can also dry out the skin. This can result in peeling or flaking of the skin on your forehead.
Other Causes
-
Excessive exposure to the sun can dry out the skin on the forehead. Some serious diseases, such as cancer, lupus or HIV, can cause a rash on the forehead.
