What Are the Benefits of Push Ups for Women?

It is more difficult for some women to do push ups. This is usually because women just have less muscle mass than men do. Just because they are more difficult, however, doesn't mean the push ups are impossible to do. When women are able to do them, they can come with some specific benefits.

  1. Chest

    • Doing push ups can help build upper chest strength. This can help keep this area toned and keep the skin taut.

    Knees

    • Doing push ups on the knees is a variation to regular push ups that can cause the knees to get scraped and bruised. Performing push ups on the feet can avoid this.

    Triceps

    • The triceps can get stronger because the arms are flexing and extending every time you go up and down.

    Stomach

    • The abdominal muscles can also become stronger when doing push ups. They are being engaged to hold the body in good alignment.

    Shoulders

    • The shoulder muscles are also called into play as stabilizers. This can strengthen them which can help prevent future injuries.
