Mild Pancreatitis Symptoms in Dogs
The pancreas produces enzymes for food digestion and insulin to make use of those nutrients. When the pancreas is subjected to stresses like excess fatty foods in the diet, the pancreas will become inflamed, causing pancreatitis. If the pancreatitis interferes with the production of insulin, the dog will become diabetic and may need insulin injections and a special diet.

Loss of Weight
-
Although the dog may be eating, pancreatitis prevents the body's ability to utilize food. The dog may also refuse to eat.
Diarrhea
-
Digestive enzymes are not being made in the inflamed pancreas, causing diarrhea.

Abdominal Pain
-
If the dog cries or hunches his back, he may be experiencing stomach pain.
Vomiting
-
Severe vomiting is considered an acute symptom that needs immediate medical attention.
Dehydration
-
Vomiting and diarrhea can cause dehydration, but too much fluid can cause the stomach to stretch and increase enzyme production.
