Home Remedies for Facial Scars

Scars of any kind can be bothersome, and when they are on the face it can be more of a problem. Facial scars can be caused from a number of things, such as an injury or even acne. Anytime there is damage to the deep dermis skin layer a scar will appear. Some scars fade away and, in some, traces of injury may still be visible. Home remedies can be used to lighten or remove unwanted facial scars. Nothing will make a scar disappear overnight; with each of these remedies, you will need some time and patience.   1. Aloe Vera Gel

    • Applying aloe vera gel to new wounds will inhibit the formation of scar tissue as it speeds up the healing process while keeping the wounded area moist and bacteria free.

    Sandalwood Paste

    • Mix Sandalwood powder with rose water to form a paste. Apply it to your facial scars, leave it on overnight and wash your face with cool water the next morning. This can be very drying to your face. If it is overly so, then add some powdered milk to your paste.

    Lemon

    • Lemon is one of nature's natural bleaches, and it is known for its ability to lighten scars. Apply some fresh lemon juice to the scarred area, and allow it to dry. This is also very good for cleaning out your pores.

    Fenugreek

    • Bring Fenugreek seeds and a liter of water to a rolling boil for about 7 minutes, then allow it to cool. Wash your face with this solution once per week.

    Banana

    • Banana is considered one of the best methods to remove a scar. Take a ripe banana and mash it up, then apply it to your face like a mask. Leave it on for about 10 minutes, then wash your face in cold water.

    Cucumber

    • Cucumber is the answer for darker scars. All you need to do is apply cucumber juice to the scars, wait 15 minutes and then wash your face in cold water.

    Oils

    • Regular daily use of oils such as olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil and oil of oregano can help reduce facial scars. For better effect use two to three times per day.
