- Ammonia is a strong all around cleaner. Mix 1/4 cup of ammonia and 1 cup of warm water in a spray bottle. Spray the area and blot with a clean white cloth or paper towels. Repeat the process, if needed.
- Mix 1/4 cup vinegar and 1 cup warm water. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and apply it the same way as the ammonia mixture.
- Dish detergent cleans greasy dishes, so it's a powerful cleaner for stains on a carpet. Put 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent in 2 cups of warm water. Mix and apply the same as the vinegar and ammonia solution.
- Club soda is good for water-soluble stains. Drip it onto the stain from the bottle or pour it onto a clean white cloth. Do not pour it onto the carpet. Blot it out with a paper towel or a dry cloth.
- If the stain is wet, vacuum it with a wet vacuum cleaner first. Then use one of the household mixtures to remove the stain.
