Is a Convection Oven Worth the Price?
-
Convection Oven Advantages
-
Convection oven have a fan(s) inside the oven which helps speed up cooking time--up to 25 percent--and helps evenly cook foods, such as cookies, even when all racks are used. Convection ovens which come with only one fan works well and are more affordable than two or three fan options.
-
Convection Oven Disadvantages
-
According to Consumer Reports, convection ovens do not necessarily cook better than all conventional ovens, which also can cook food evenly on different racks. Convection ovens are also quite costly and can cost much more than you would pay for a conventional oven with similar features.
Bottom Line
-
Even though convection ovens cook evenly and about 25 percent faster than conventional ovens, it is probably not worth the extra expense if you are on a tight budget. You can cook just as well in a nice conventional oven and get more options and special features for the same or cheaper price.
