Why Do Men Go Bald?
The patterns of hair loss may vary, but it strikes a sizeable chunk of the male population with certainty. Beyond age 20, many healthy males experience hair loss. An average healthy male has approximately 100,000 to 150,000 hairs on the scalp. It is normal to lose 100 hairs daily as the lost hair grows back. When the lost hair does not grow back, it could signal the onset of baldness. Does this Spark an idea?

Hereditary
-
The most common cause of hair loss is heredity. Baldness can run in a family. Men who are genetically predisposed to baldness convert the testosterone in their body in to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT clogs the pores of hair follicles and slows down the production of hair. It causes weak and short hair to grow in place of fallen hair. Gradually, it prevents any hair growth from the follicles completely. Slowly this leads to baldness.
Baldness Caused by Stress
-
Intense emotional or mental stress can result in severe hair loss. The most common type of hair loss as a result of stress is known as telogen effluvium. The hairs go in to a resting phase, and after a few days, they start falling out in large numbers while simply combing or washing.
Another stress related condition that also leads to baldness is known as alopecia areata, in which the white blood cells attack the hair follicles, causing hair growth to stop. The hair under attack from white blood cells falls out within a few days. This kind of hair loss gradually starts in patches. New hair usually grows back, but the cycle may happen again, rendering the person completely bald.

Imbalances in the Body
-
Sebum is a chemical produced by the body that makes the scalp feel oilier. Excess sebum is a problem, as the DHT contained in the sebum acts on the hair follicles and prevents the growth of new hair. People with high or low levels of thyroid also may experience hair loss.
Medicines Make Men Bald
-
There are 300 medicines that could cause baldness in men. For instance, medicines administered for treating certain heart problems, bipolar disorder and during chemotherapy have been proved to make men bald.
Lack of Nutrition
-
Good nutrition, exercise and rest promote healthy and strong hair. Lack of proper nutrition, especially iron deficient diets, cause hair loss. Regular exercise maintains a steady blood supply to the scalp, helping the hair grow healthily.
