Specifications for the Dodge Ram 1500


The Ram 1500 is Dodge's full-size, half-ton pickup truck. As of 2010, the truck is in its fourth generation of production. The five available trims, from bottom to top, are ST, SLT, TRX, Sport and Laramie. Each trim level is offered in several combinations of cab size (Regular, Quad and Crew); wheelbase size (short wheelbase [SWB] and long wheelbase [LWB]); and drivetrains (2/rear-wheel-drive [4x2], all-wheel-drive [4x4] and 4-wheel-drive [4WD]).

Engine, Transmission and Fuel Economy

  • Depending on the trim combination, the engines offered in the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 are a 3.7-liter, 215-horsepower V-6; a 4.7-liter, 310-horsepower V-8 or a 5.7-liter, 390-horsepower V-8. The transmission is either a 4-speed or 5-speed automatic. The SWB trucks have a 26-gallon gas tank, while that of the LWB trucks has 6 more gallons of capacity. The fuel economy range for the 2010 Ram 1500 is 13 to 14 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving and 18 to 20 mpg for highway driving.


  • With the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 possessing standard seating capacity for three to six people (for crew-cab models), the front headroom and leg room is measured at around 41 inches, front shoulder room at around 66 inches, and hip room at around 63 inches. Standard interior features include air conditioning, tire inflation/pressure monitor and AM/FM/CD player with six-speakers.


  • The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 comes with either two or four doors.   • The 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 have driver, passenger, front side and side head curtain airbags. Other standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brake assistance, vehicle anti-theft system and vehicle stability control system. The truck has a multi-link coil suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and a turning diameter range of 40 to 45 feet. The maximum towing capacity of the 2010 Ram 1500 is 10,200 pounds.


  • The original manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the Dodge Ram 1500 depends on the trim, as well as the combination of drivetrain, cab size and bed size. For instance, on one side of the spectrum is the ST SWB 4x2, which has one of the lowest MSRPs at $20,610. On the other hand, the Laramie Crew Cab 4WD is one of the most expensive of the trim combinations at $42,650.
