Mary Kay is a well-known American marketing company that sells beauty products, specifically makeup and skin care. It was started in the fall of 1963 by a businesswoman named Mary Kay Ash. The company is based in Addison, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Some of the makeup products that are available through Mary Kay include concealer, foundation, powder, mascara, lipstick, eyeliner, lip gloss and blush. Mary Kay also has an extensive skin care line.

Hydration

The Mary Kay skin care line offers many products that are aimed at promoting hydration of the skin and battling dryness. Some popular examples include the intense moisturizing cream, extra emollient night cream and Velocity lightweight moisturizer. These moisturizers make the skin feel soft and look radiant. The intense moisturizing cream can keep the complexion feeling hydrated for up to 10 hours at a time. The creams also consist of humectants (hygroscopic substances that encourage moisture retention) and marine extracts that make the skin look and feel soft.

Age-Defying

Mary Kay also sells various products that fight the effects of aging. Some of the anti-aging products that are available through the skin care line include the TimeWise even complexion mask, TimeWise age-fighting eye cream and the TimeWise firming eye cream. These anti-aging products brighten, soften and pamper the complexion and also defend the skin against free radicals, which can speed up the aging process with fine lines, wrinkles and crow's feet. They also help the skin protect itself from emotional stress, the sun and exhaustion, all of which can age the skin surrounding the eyes.

Cleansers

Mary Kay offers several facial cleansers. The cleansers include the Velocity facial cleanser, the TimeWise 3-in-1 cleanser (normal, dry, oily and combination skin options) and the facial cleansing cloths. These cleansers aim to balance and cleanse the skin simultaneously, and make the skin look younger and softer. The 3-in-1 cleanser also freshens up and exfoliates the complexion. Exfoliation is a process that entails the removal of dead, old skin cells that remain on the surface of the skin.

Basic Skin Care

Mary Kay has various basic skin products intended for daily use. These products include the gentle cleansing cream, revitalizing mask and the creamy cleanser. The basic skin care products that are available are divided by skin type (normal and combination skin, dry skin, and blemish control and oily skin). Individuals can tell their skin types based on observation. If skin has a tendency to get flaky, it most likely is dry skin. If skin often feels greasy and looks shiny, it probably is oily. Combination skin involves both occasional dryness and oiliness. Normal skin is skin that doesn't experience excessive dryness or greasiness. Male Skin Care

Mary Kay offers a male skin care called MKMen. The men's skin care products that are available include the moisturizer sunscreen (which has a sun protection factor of 25), after-shave gel, shave foam and face bar. The face bar is gentle and buffs and deeply cleanses the complexion while also working to decrease visible aging signs, such as wrinkles and fine lines.
