Uniblue is a website that sells software having various different functions. Most of the software is made for Microsoft Windows operating systems. The software itself usually performs a cleaning or optimizing function, which serve to help PCs run faster. Uniblue also offers various knowledgebases containing information on the various processes running on a PC and also maintains a file extension database as well.
The CEO of Uniblue Systems Ltd., Bosse Malmberg, started the company in 2003. The mission of the company includes "...a clear vision to unleash the potential of computer users everywhere..." They created the Uniblue line of optimization products for this reason. Uniblue has made it the company's personal responsibility to offer free, quality information about their computers and what makes the computers run by maintaining the "specialist's knowledgebase" on various subjects.
Uniblue offers products including RegistryBooster 2010, which helps remove unnecessary leftover registry keys. Their defragmenter, called DiskRescue 2009, cleans hard disks by moving all the scattered files into one place. Uniblue's drive scanner called DriverScanner 2009 cleans the hard drive and can backup files. The program called SpeedUpMyPC 2010 monitors and helps control certain processes by controlling the processes allowed to run. The PowerSuite 2009 package is a complete suite of products containing RegistryBooster 2010, SpeedUppMyPC 2010 and DriveScanner 2009.
Uniblue started this service in 2004, and the website, ProcessLibrary.com, offers definitions for the different processes running in the background of a PC. The library also keeps information on processes that should not be running, and whether or not certain processes are known as malware. If IT technicians or users finds any questionable processes running on their computer, they can search the Process Library website for an explanation of what it is, and if it is malicious or not.
Uniblue offers a variety of choices with their Partner Programs. The Uniblue Reseller Program allows certain companies to sell official Uniblue products as a Uniblue Partner for a commission. The Affiliate Partner Program is for owners of websites who want to make commissions when selling the products on their sites, but who are not official partners. The OEM Partner Program is for manufacturers who want to add the Uniblue products to software bundles of their own and sell them.
PCMech.com and CNet.com give the Registry Booster software a high rating, however, they noted a few "annoyances." CNet stated the minute the trial version of the software finishes installing, it starts a scan without permission from the user. This can cause a massive slow down of the machine. CNet also noted the trial itself as it is a truncated version, and a user must purchase the full version to scan more than 15 sections of the PC so a complete evaluation is not possible.
The PC Mech reviewer added an update because many users of the software claimed it was malware because the software refused to uninstall from the computers. PC Mech asked for an interview with Uniblue to address the claims. In the interview, the Uniblue representative stated the problems were addressed and no longer present. PC Mech retested the software and confirmed the problem is gone.
