N-Light Laser Treatment for Acne
N Lite is a non-ablative, yellow laser light, originally created for treatment of lines and wrinkles. After a marked improvement was seen in the acne of some of its users, several clinical trials were performed to study the effectiveness of this treatment for acne. Professor Tony Chu, who carried out the tests at the Hammersmith Hospital in London, said that he was amazed that 10 patients were completely healed. "This is the biggest advance in the cure for acne in 30 years," he said. Does this Spark an idea?

Function
-
N Lite laser light travels down into the skin, warming up the top layer. As it travels to the bottom of the follicle, it produces oxygen, which kills the acne bacteria. Because the bacterial is killed, it prevents future acne flare-ups. N Lite laser treatment also reduces active inflammation and stimulates the skin's natural wound healing response. The growth of new collagen plumps the skin from the inside out, smoothing any existing acne scarring.
How Treatment is Performed
-
The skin is cleansed to dissolve the top layer of dead skin, allowing the laser to penetrate the skin easily. A microdermabrasion treatment or chemical peel may be performed to aid the exfoliation of dead skin. Protective goggles are then placed over the eyes. A warming sensation may be felt as the practitioner moves the small N Lite probe over the skin. A whole face may be done, or individual areas affected by acne may be treated. Afterward, a full spectrum sunscreen is applied to protect the skin.

Effects
-
A study done at Hammersmith Hospital in London shows a single treatment session with N Lite reduces acne lesion count by 50 percent after two weeks. Great improvements were also seen in inflammatory lesions. The most rapid improvements were seen in the first four weeks after treatment. Treatment of acne with N Lite is faster and more effective than prescription antibiotics.
Duration
-
A full-face treatment with N Lite can last up to 30 minutes. Spot treatment can be completed in 5 to 10 minutes. Treatment with N Lite has a prolonged effect, producing results that last for up to three months in cases of mild to moderate acne. More severe cases of acne may require several treatments with N Lite. Because acne is a chronic disorder, maintenance treatments with N Lite may be required.
Safety
-
N Lite is a non-ablative laser, meaning it will not wound the surface of the skin. The treatment is a safe and effective treatment for all skin types and colors. There is no down time, and few visible side effects are experienced, so you can resume your daily activities immediately. It is safe for use in conjunction with chemical peels and other acne treatments. Topical solutions should not be applied to the skin for 48 hours after the treatment. N Lite laser treatments are not performed during pregnancy.
