Adcal is a calcium carbonate dietary supplement, often used for the treatment of calcium deficiency. Adcal works by supplementing your body with necessary amounts of calcium, which in turn aids in bone strength and growth and the clotting of blood. As is the case with many mineral supplements, there are a number of side effects that may be associated with use.

Common Side Effects

  • Diarrhea, constipation, bloating, stomach pain, vomiting, indigestion, constipation, headache, general discomfort and general weakness are side effects that may develop when taking Adcal . While these are considered the most common side effects, they only affect a small amount of users.

Severe Side Effects

  • Unfortunately, severe side effects can be associated with this supplement, including allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, tightening of the chest, hives, skin rash, closing of the throat, and swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue and throat. These side effects are rare and do not affect a large number of users.

Important Safety Information

  • If you have a history of kidney stones, your doctor should regularly monitor your progress throughout the course of your treatment. If you have a history of kidney failure or elevated levels of calcium in your urine, consult with your doctor before taking Adcal. Never use this supplement if you have high levels of calcium in your blood.

Recommendations for Use

  • Always use this supplement exactly as it was prescribed by your doctor and never in doses larger than what has been recommended on the label. This supplement is in pill form and should be taken with a full glass of water. Adcal can be taken with or without food and should be stored at room temperature. Store away from sources of moisture.
