Cleansing the pores is important for prevention of acne pustule and cyst formation. While commercial pore-cleansing products exist on the market, many of these contain substances that can cause redness and irritation to the skin. To clean the pores without irritating the skin, utilize a few homemade pore cleansers that can clear the pores naturally.
Baking Soda Paste
Baking soda is a powerful exfoliator that will clean out the pores while killing off acne-causing bacteria. To use, combine 1 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp. of water, mixing well to form a soft paste. Massage this baking soda paste onto the face for 30 seconds, then rinse the skin well with water.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic, which can aid the skin in sloughing off dead skin cells that can clog up the pores. Apply apple cider vinegar to the skin once per day by soaking a cotton pad in apple cider vinegar, then wiping it around the face. Let the apple cider vinegar dry onto the skin.
Olive oil is an oil that won't clog pores. When massaged into the skin, it releases oils and impurities trapped beneath the skin. Massage 2 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil into the skin for two to three minutes, then lay a steaming hot, wet washcloth over the face. Let the steam penetrate the pores until the cloth completely cools, then wipe away the excess oil.
Egg whites have powerful pore-cleansing and skin-tightening properties when applied to the skin. Reap the benefits of egg whites by applying them as a mask. Whip two egg whites in a bowl, then spread the egg whites onto the face with your hands. Let the egg whites dry completely, then rinse them off.
Urine is a completely sterile substance that has been used for thousands of years to purge the skin of impurities. It is important to only use urine on unbroken skin so as not to allow the urine to enter the bloodstream. To collect the urine, use a clean, empty bowl to catch the first urine of the day, holding it under you as you urinate. Then, simply soak a cotton pad in your own fresh urine and apply it to the skin, allowing it to dry onto the face. Urine will not only cleanse the skin, but will soften and smooth the complexion as well. While it may seem unusual and strange at first, urine therapy has been successfully used by millions of people to treat the skin.
