About Colgate Toothpaste

The Colgate-Palmolive company has been around for more than 200 years. Colgate sells more than 30 different kinds of toothpaste. The company's toothpastes are sold all around the world, and still remain one of the most popular brand names in oral care. All of the toothpastes under the Colgate brand are FDA-approved and recommended by the American Dental Association.

  1. Colgate Total Advanced

    • Colgate Total Advanced is a range of nine different types of toothpaste, all approved by the FDA to fight plaque and gingivitis. The Colgate Total Advanced range provides 12-hour protection against plaque and gingivitis. It also fights these oral problems if you already have them. Colgate Total Advanced is also formulated to fight tartar buildup and halitosis (bad breath) This line was the first to be FDA approved and is recommended by the American Dental Association. Some Colgate Total Advanced products you may be familiar with include, Total Whitening Gel, Total Advanced Whitening Paste and Total Advanced Clean.

    Colgate Total

    • Colgate Total offers much the same types of benefits as Colgate Total Advanced, including 12-hour protection, and prevention of plaque, tartar and gingivitis. The toothpastes in the Colgate Total line include Colgate Total Clean Mint Paste; Colgate Total Whitening Paste, which helps to remove surface stains and also whitens the teeth and Colgate Total Mint Stripe Gel.

    Colgate Sensitive

    • Dentin hypersensitivity, or tooth pain, is experienced by 57 percent of dental patients, according to Colgate.com The pain is usually experienced after eating or drinking something very hot or cold, such as coffee or ice cream. Colgate Sensitive reduces tooth pain with regular use. Colgate recommends two toothpastes from this line to do the job. They are Colgate Sensitive Whitening and Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect. Colgate Sensitive Whitening reduces sensitivity, removes stains, freshens breath and protects against cavities. Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect offers the same benefits as Colgate Sensitive Whitening minus the stain removal option. Relief comes within two weeks of using either type.

    Colgate Visible White

    • Colgate Visible White is designed for everyday use in removing surface stains caused by substances such as coffee and tea. These stains along with tartar can cause the tooth to become dull and yellow. Colgate Visible White fights these stains and helps to protect against the formation of new ones. This toothpaste contains high-cleaning silica, called White Protect Crystals, which are similar to the silica used by dentists. It also contains sodium fluoride and phosphate to protect against cavities and tartar. Both types are mint flavored.

    Colgate 2 in 1

    • Colgate 2 in 1 offers the uniqueness of having toothpaste and mouthwash in one liquid gel. When using the gel it foams in your mouth. This foam is intended to reach in between each tooth to eliminate bacteria and germs that cause halitosis (bad breath). Colgate 2 in 1 is also available for children in two flavors, watermelon and strawberry. For adults and children 12 and up there are three types of Colgate 2 in 1 to chose from; they are, Colgate 2 in 1 Oxygen Whitening, Colgate 2 in 1 Icy Blast and Colgate 2 in 1 Whitening.
