There are also health maintenance organization (HMO) plans and preferred provider organization (PPO) plans that are available. Further, Aetna has many types of indemnity health plans that individuals can select depending on their specific needs.

  1. High Deductible Health Plans

    • Aetna has various high deductible heath insurance plans available that can be used with a health savings account. Two are the PPO High Deductible 3000 and the PPO High Deductible 5000, which are available depending on an individual's state of residence. These plans provide the option to open a tax-advantaged health savings account. There are no charges or fees to pay for doctor visits after the plan's deductible has been met.

    Specific Deductible PPO Plans

    • Aetna offers specific deductible health plans such as the PPO 500 Plan and the PPO 1500 Plan. The PPO 500 Plan has the lowest deductible and the lowest co-pays for doctor visits. The plan also offers the lowest out-of-pocket maximum payments but with the highest premiums. The PPO 1500 plan has a moderate deductible of $1,500 per individual and $3,000 for a family. The co-pay for an office visit is $25 with moderate to lower premium payments.

    HMO Plans

    • HMO plans from Aetna vary depending on the state where an individual resides. Aetna offers the Golden Medicare Health Plan and the Golden Choice Health Plan. The Golden Medicare Health Plan is a Medicare Advantage plan available in Arizona, California, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The Golden Choice Health Plan is also a Medicare Advantage HMO plan, but includes an out-of-network benefit for certain cities in the states of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Other HMO plans are available in Jew Jersey and Pennsylvania with low to no deductibles.

    Indemnity Plans

    • Aetna has indemnity plans available with rates that vary depending on the location of an individual with a particular state. The Individual Choice Basic is one type of indemnity plan that is available. The plan features a low deductible, low out-of-pocket maximum payments and wellness benefits. There are four indemnity plans to choose from. Coinsurance amounts can range from 20 percent to 50 percent.

    Additional Options

    • Aetna offers additional options to individuals in addition to their standard health care plans. One option is the Aetna Rx Savings Card. This is a Medicare-approved prescription drug discount card that can be used for generic and brand name drugs. Another option is the Dental Maintenance Organization Plan, which provides coverage for cleanings, fillings and crowns depending on the level of dental work that is required.
