Gothic Hairstyles for Japanese Girls

Popular Japanese fashion is often fragmented into many sub-genres or sub-fashions. Gothic fashion is no exception. There are many different types of Japanese Gothic fashion. However, hairstyles from different Japanese popular fashions can be used as part of a Gothic look.

Magna Hair

Gothic fashion could work well with a Magna hairstyle. Magna hair styles mimic the hairstyles worn by characters in Magna cartoons and comic books. Magna hair styles are sometimes called Anime hair styles. With the popularity of Gothic cartoons and comic books in Japan, many ideas for Magna hair styles can be found.

Ganguro

Although Ganguro usually refers to the Japanese style of bleached hair and deep tans, the Ganguro hairstyles can work well for Gothic fashion. By bleaching and then re-dying the hair, exotic colors can be achieved. In addition, the contrast of blonde with Gothic clothing can be effective.

Gothic Lolita

Gothic Lolita is a fashion style which has developed a number of sub-fashions in Japan. In general, Gothic Lolita looks that are based on western Gothic styles can be anything form simple hair with braids or pony tails to more intricate curls or perms.

Wa Lolita

Wa Lolita is a sub-fashion of Gothic Lolita. Instead of wearing western Gothic looks, traditional Japanese clothing and accessories are worn. As a result, more traditional Japanese hair styles, incorporating traditional Japanese hair ornaments is appropriate. Some Wa Lolita styles look good with pigtails that are worn higher on the head than traditional Western pigtails.

Qi Lolita

Qi Lolita is similar to Wa Lolita. It is a sub-genre of the Japanese Gothic Lolita fashions. The difference lies in the wearing of traditional Chinese clothing, like the Qipao. As a result, hair styles are often more traditional, but with a Chinese twist. Chinese hairstyles tend to be more flowing and elegant, but can be modified to be edgier and more modern when used as part of a Qi Lolita look.
