Arthritis Foot Pain Relief

Arthritis can cause tremendous pain in the joints, including the joints in the feet. Arthritis can create soreness and pain in a large number of sufferers. While doctors prescribe medicines that provide pain relief and treat the conditions, plenty of alternative treatments and home remedies exist that can ease arthritis foot pain.

  1. Types

    • The two types of arthritis foot pain that exist are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is the inflammation of joints that can actually damage the joints and cause problems with the feet. Osteoarthritis is directly related to the disease called osteoporosis.

    Causes

    • Many cases of arthritis foot pain are linked to genetic causes, though there are some environmental causes. Environmental causes include injuries, infections and disorders like colitis and ileitis.

    Medical Treatments

    • Doctors recommend physical therapy, exercise, anti-inflammatory medicines, pain killers, glucosamine, foot support, removable insoles, foot and ankle supports, rocker bottom soles and a variety of digital accommodation devices in order to correct problems associated with foot arthritis.

    Alternative Treatments

    • Alternative health experts explain that arthritis stems from an overabundance of circulating immune complexes, which break down connective tissues. Ways to cure this problem include increasing the intake of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and glutathione, as well as using milk thistle, dandelion and burdock. An overabundance of microorganisms, which can cause foot arthritis, can be treated with citrus seed oil and oregano leaf oil. Poor circulation can be treated with menthol, wintergreen and cloves.

    Home Remedies

    • Home remedies effective at treating arthritis foot pain include: wrapping red flannel around the foot, massaging the foot with olive oil, soothing the feet with steam baths and body massages, rubbing the joints with hot vinegar, and relaxing in a hot bathtub with sea salts added to the water.
