Both Jerry and David attended Stanford University together and were friends before they started the business venture they later named Yahoo. Yahoo Chat is also widely used as a business tool for companies who wish to communicate from remote locations around the globe. Yahoo Chat is a free service that allows Yahoo users to log on and talk to other yahoo users simultaneously, depending on their Internet connection. Yahoo Chat continues to remain free due large in part to advertisers and investors.

From here the user will be prompted to download the latest version of Yahoo Chat and Yahoo Messenger. Once the download is complete, the user will be able to choose from the many chat rooms available and begin chatting with other Yahoo users.
