- From the Yahoo home page, locate Yahoo services. From Yahoo services follow the prompts alphabetically to Yahoo Chat. A Yahoo ID is required to initiate the chat process. When prompted to sign in if a user does not have a Yahoo ID, a new one must be issued; at this time, follow the prompts to obtain a new Yahoo ID. Proceed to sign in to Yahoo Chat. From here the user will be prompted to download the latest version of Yahoo Chat and Yahoo Messenger. Once the download is complete, the user will be able to choose from the many chat rooms available and begin chatting with other Yahoo users.
