Cream of tartar can be found with spices in any grocery stores. This has a mild cleaning element that beautifully cleans and polishes aluminum, without causing harm to the surface. In a dish, add a few spoonfuls of cream of tartar, and stir in water until you've developed a thick paste. Use a soft cloth to collect a little bit of the paste, then rub over the aluminum surface. Repeat as needed until the aluminum has been cleaned to your liking.

Vinegar

Vinegar is another easy cleaning option for cleaning aluminum. In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Use this type of vinegar only, as others will not have the same cleaning effect. Spray the solution onto the aluminum surface, and wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth to avoid scratches. Use regularly as an everyday cleaning product.

Baking Soda

Baking soda also works effectively for cleaning aluminum. This works perfectly for cleaning surfaces that have developed a residue, as it is a non-abrasive cleaning agent that still has a powerful cleaning agent. In a dish, add a few spoonfuls of baking soda, and stir in water until you have formed a thick paste. Rub the paste over the surface until you have cleaned to your liking, then wipe with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.
