A fuel filter is a filter in the fuel line that screens out dirt and rust particles from the fuel. They are found in most internal combustion engines and serve a vital function in today's engine fuel systems. Unfiltered fuel may contain several kinds of contamination or rust caused by moisture in the steel tank. If these contaminants are not removed before the fuel enters the system, they will cause wear and failure of the fuel pump and fuel injectors.
Fuel filters need to be maintained at regular intervals, usually by disconnecting the filter from the fuel line and replacing it with a new one. If a filter is not replaced regularly, it may become clogged with contaminants and cause a blockage in the flow of fuel. In this free video series. a mechanic will show you what tools you need to replace a fuel filter, how to remove car parts to get to the filter, and how to depressurize a fuel line. Once you've reached that point, the mechanic will teach you how to remove the fuel filter, install a new one, and ultimately test the car for fuel leaks. Make sure your fuel system is working to the best of its abilities by maintaining the fuel filter regularly!
