Hi, I'm Dori Decamillis from Red Dot Gallery. Today, we're going to learn how to draw a yellow duck. Alright, I've drawn out a basic outline for my duck, the head is kind of facing, his head is facing us, and his body is going back behind us. Your little tail feathers, you want them sort of random, don't have them be too pokey, like a little crown. You want a curved line here that comes out for his body and the bottom is going to be not straight across. Now that front leg, you can see it's coming out in front, so I'm going to draw a little bit of definition on that. I'll give it a little bit of shadow in here at the bottom to give some volume, a little shadowing on the side of this beak. Now the beak comes out to a point with two little knobs coming out of the side there, and he's got nostrils here. I'm not looking at his eyes head on so we've got one coming from the side and one sort of tucked back right here. On this side of his face, I'm going to have in shadow coming right up here and there's going to be more of a shadow down underneath. You can see him kind of becoming more lifelike as I put shadows in. His feet are the favorite part of the duck for me. They come out to three points, and then it's webbed in between, pretty simple. The webbed part tends to be a little darker and I'm going to put a little shadow on the side of the leg. Also because the light is coming from here, the underneath his body on to his legs there's going to be a shadow cast. You can get more detail than that but that's simply how it's done and this is how we do a yellow duck.
